Remember how I said I have a bunch of little projects that I might share with you? Well, here's the first of many.
Back in the beginning of July, I was in our post's thrift shop and I noticed this thing hanging on the wall and I walked by it about ten times before I decided I had to have it. It reminded me of the motif in our valences in the kitchen/living room. It's not exact, but the point isn't to be matchy-matchy. Plus, it was only $7. Anyway, here it is:

I got it home and thought about what to do with it and resolved that I would pick up a can of Krylon in a blue that matched the blue parts in our valences. But first I had to go to Texas. So it had to wait.
Fast forward to this past Friday. My friend/neighbor Vanessa had told me about this shop called Gypsy's and I've been meaning to stop by and check it out, but never had a chance to go until a couple days ago. I'm browsing around the shop listening to the owner-ladies talk about how they're excited about the movie "The Help" but it's too bad they don't know anyone who's in it.
And there it was. A fan. A matching fan. An exact same fan as the fan I have fan. Wait, what?
Anyway, I asked about the fan - because this is a legitimate antique-type shop and I figured I had just bought something that someone else had picked up at HobLob and gotten sick of. Turns out - the fan motif was popular in the 50s...and this fan and the fan I had already are pretty legit. So that's awesome. Oh right, and they're just plain fabulous no matter what decade they're from. This fan was $15....and I thought about it and left and got home and painted my first fan:

Then I called Gypsy's and asked them to hold the fan for me. I picked it up the next day.
It started out pink instead of white, but now it's blue.

And here is the finished product:
| Even Nugget likes it! |
And here's their new home in my living room:
| I'm going to add something down the middle bit, but I haven't settled on what yet... |
Well there you have it. Some of my next projects include: what to put in between the fans, a lamp (that some of my TAMU friends may recognize), and a mini-dresser! So get excited!

That looks FAN-tastic! I like how you put them in the corners, and I think painting them both the same color was totes the way to go. Also, that's kind of the color of Mylo's dresser - I'll post pics on MY blog once it's done :)
Thanks you guys! Also, I'm currently talking ideas on what to put between them - I have some thoughts, but could always use some inspiration! =)
